Q: Does xyz count as a catgirl?
A: Questions like this are hard to answer, because there are many criteria which can be used to determine if someone qualifies as a catgirl or not.
1) female
2) cat-ears
3) tail
4) claws
5) fangs
6) fur
7) wearing less to no clothes at all
8) typical behaviour (egocentric, aloof, sexual activity, etc.)

Q: What are the origins of catgirls?
A: Catgirls play some role as deity in ancient human history. However in ancient Japan exist tales of shapeshifting creatures, primary foxes and raccoon-dogs, as well as stories about shapeshifting cats (so called nekomata). Their human shape may not be perfect. They can possess ears or tails.
A prominent example is the series 'Hyper Police' which draws heavily on Japanese folklore for it's main characters.

Q: Why do many cat-like people speak in anime about themselves in the third person?
A: It's considered a cute way of behaving. Additionally, it's catlike because cats are a very self-centered race.

About The Catgirl Gallery

Q: Why is Catgirl xyz not in your gallery?
A: 1) I haven't heard of her at all, so far. I appreciate any information about a catgirl not yet in my gallery.
2) I have too less info about her. Since my gallery is more than a simple picture gallery, I only add catgirls if they have a story of some sort.

Q: I would like to download the picture about xyz?
A: Normally it's no problem. Most pictures are collected from all over the web. But if you want to download one of the pictures from 'Catgirls in roleplaying games', 'Fan Creations' or 'Fan Art' you are only allowed to use them in private (i.e. you mustn't put them on your own homepage) unless you get the permission from the artist himself. Don't ask me to get the permission. If applicable I put a link to the artist's homepage so you can go there and ask him directly.

Q: Why only one link per catgirl?
A: The gallery is not a link collection. I put in a - in my opinion - decent link. If you want more links about a specific catgirl try out Google or the Anime Web Turnpike.

Q: Why only one picture per catgirl?
A: This answer is analogic to the question above. First, the gallery is not a picture gallery and second, the disk space is limited. I will put up some additional pictures to very favorite catgirls or if I find very good ones of them. If you want more pictures try the links mentioned above.

Q: Can I link to your page?
A: Of course! But it would be more convenient for you (and for me, too) if you drop me a line and tell me. I plan to move the gallery to another location eventually.

Q: Can you link to my page?
A: Normally, I'd decline, because there are web portals out there who are better suited your needs of publicsising your page.
However, if you think your page is (a) very exceptional and (b) portrays one or more catgirls I don't have any links set, you may post me your link.
